During these Virtual Shadowing events, participants have the vantage of three to four angles of the procedure, and they can ask questions in real time to a secondary dentist or dental student. With the success of these events, the Adams School was asked to provide opportunities to Area Health Education Center (AHEC) students and then HOSA-Future Health Professionals also wanted to partner. High school and middle school students are the new frontier for recruitment into the health professions, especially dentistry. They simply are not exposed to the profession enough. By strategically partnering with AHEC, HOSA and DPI, we have established a foundation for our pathways to dentistry.
Careers in Dentistry is a Module that was developed in partnership with AHEC-Charlotte and ASOD (Lamont Lowery and students from DDS and DH programs).
