People, Proximity and Progress: UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC Place-Based Response to Hurricane Helene in Western NC

This online panel discussion features faculty from UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC including the School of Medicine, Eshelman School of Pharmacy and Gillings School of Global Public Health who were directly engaged with boots-on-the-ground emergency response efforts after Hurricane Helene in Western North Carolina. Panelists will share powerful personal stories and highlight three examples of how UNC Health Sciences at MAHEC engaged with existing regional partners after a catastrophic hurricane. This session will demonstrate the power that trusting relationships between the University and Western North Carolina partners had on the health of the region. Participants will participate in a question and answer session at the end of the panel discussion and will leave empowered and inspired by the experiences and lessons learned by interprofessional UNC faculty who live and work in the Asheville area.
